New Mineral Revealed in A Siberian Meteorite We’ve Never Found on Earth Before

A meteorite hinted at a new mineral which is hardest as diamonds. That mineral has never been seen on Earth before. The analyses were done in August 2018. The meteorite was discovered in Russia in 2016.

Russian scientist claimed about the mineral found in the meteorite. The meteorite was found by gold hunters in Siberia. Many tests were done over it. Head of Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Science, Mr. Boris called it a new find mineral in the meteorite. He said that mineral is formed in a different condition other than the Earth.

He said: ‘This is a fairly common phenomenon due to the fact that a number of minerals, number of substances that can be formed and are formed under cosmic conditions, are not found on Earth.’

He said: ‘This is a fairly common phenomenon due to the fact that a number of minerals, number of substances that can be formed and are formed under cosmic conditions, are not found on Earth. Mineral discovery announcement was done at the 81st Annual Meeting of Meteoritical Society 2018 which was held in Moscow. Ural Federal University, Geolgocial Institute at Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science and Novosibirsk State  University researchers highlighted the mineral findings. They said that meteorite piece was found in Buryatia which is a mountainous republic in Southern Siberia. The meteorite piece was found by gold hunters.

Researchers said
“Uakitite was observed in small troilite-daubreelite (±schreibersite) inclusions (up to 100 µm) in kamacite and in large troilite-daubreelite nodules (up to 1 cm).”

University statement said: ‘It forms isometric (cubic) crystals (in daubreelite) or rounded grains (in schreibersite).

They gave it the name. The meteorite was tested with specific tests like electron diffraction instead of a traditional X-ray analysis because the quantity of mineral “Uakitite ” was very low.
A statement from the University said: ‘It forms isometric (cubic) crystals (in daubreelite) or rounded grains (in schreibersite). ‘The size of uakitite grains is usually less than 5 micrometers.’

The formation seemed not to be found on earth. What is the reason behind it?

The reason is the temperature level which needed to form the mineral. The temperature was pointed out to exceed 1000 degrees centigrade which is required to form this mineral. The mineral seems to be elated with Osbornite TiN and carlsbergite CrN. Such points gave them the idea that mineral was formed in the meteor in space where the temperature should be exceeding 1000 degrees.
